3. Reading: What Makes a Career Successful?

Many people used to define career success mainly through salary or job title. Today, however, success is more complex. A good career often includes career progression, meaningful professional development, and a positive workplace culture. Employees usually perform better when they feel trusted, supported, and able to use their leadership skills in practical ways.

From a business point of view, companies also need strong productivity, high customer satisfaction, and clear business strategy. If a company understands market demand and creates a competitive advantage, it is more likely to achieve company growth and financial stability. However, growth alone is not enough. Organisations also need innovation, effective negotiation, and genuine collaboration between teams.

For IELTS speaking, it is useful to explain both personal and business perspectives. You can say that job satisfaction and work-life balance matter because they improve motivation and reduce stress. You can also mention employee retention, because companies lose time and money when talented workers leave. In the long term, successful people and successful businesses usually depend on strong decision-making, flexible problem-solving, and a clear plan for long-term success.

4. IELTS Discussion + Writing Practice

6. IELTS Speaking Part 2 Builder

Cue card: Describe a successful person or company you know. You should say who or what it is, what they do, why they are successful, and what other people can learn from them.
Useful structure: introduce the example → explain background → give 2 reasons → connect to wider business success → final opinion.
One successful company I would like to describe is a technology business that has grown by focusing strongly on innovation and customer satisfaction. What makes it impressive is not only its financial stability, but also its ability to understand market demand and adapt quickly. In my view, its competitive advantage comes from clear decision-making, strong collaboration between teams, and a workplace culture that encourages professional development. I think other companies can learn that long-term success is not created by one good product, but by a consistent strategy and the ability to solve problems before they become serious.
